Lot of potential here not being used. Food is very average. I wouldn't stop in unless you're either on the boat and needing a drink, needing to use the head, or bar hopping back to or from Yellow Lake Lodge. I did not stay at the resort.
Old fashioned. Great fishing. Not a long road trip. Kind hosts
One of the reviewers captured my sentiment beautifully of my last stay (August 2014): "The Lady at the counter acted as if it was a giant feat just to write up your ticket and give you keys." The motel room was okay and priced reasonably, but the ten - fifteen minutes waiting at the bar while the lady proprietor (I think she was the proprietor) served drinks and chatted with everyone in the place while occasionally taking time to deal with my check-in. I detest the attitude of some business people who put on this "Oh, I'm waaay too busy and stressed right now to deal with you, except when I can spare a few seconds of time." That is both completely unprofessional and inexcusable, in my opinion. My smile wore very thin as I waited. Motel room was okay, however. Previously, I'd stayed in one of their cabins, which was a far better experience, despite the cabin being extremely "rustic" - though not terribly dirty as a few other reviewers stated. In that earlier stay, a designated person took care of our check-in quickly. I'd rate that stay (a few years earlier) as 3 stars - perhaps a bit more considering the reasonable price.
We stayed here for a 4 day fishing vaca so we werent expecrting a 5 star just wanted a place to stay. However didnt think wed have to be scared to lay our heads on the pillows worrying if theyd ever been washed or we end up with some disease or illness. We walk into The Brent, spider webs attached from the couch to the floor the whole length of the couch. Dead asian beetles all over the place. I understand those things are a pest but not to hard to clean up. Entering and leaving the cabin was scary with the amount of wasps around the doors and around the entire cabin. There were dirty dishes in the drawers and cabinets. Im notbsure the last time the floors were swept or vacuumed. My friend walked barefoot and the amount if stuff on his feet was shocking and disgusting. There was an old used bandaid on my bedroom floor so if u stayed in the brent let me know if its still there!! Bugs and webs in bathroom including shower. We didnt have a mouse problem but if u do there r sticky traps they left in the tv cabinet. We will be finding another place to stay next year. I should of listened to what i read on reviews before i went. I thought ppl were being overly picky, i was wrong!!!
We stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was prompt and polite. The food was pretty good, fair price. Pizza is not on the menu, but they do offer it. We had the chicken wings & breaded walleye with French fries. The space is pretty big, full of tables and chairs. There is a separate game room. Restrooms were clean. We would go back again sometime.
